My name is Alice, I'm 18 and I've just graduated, which basically means whenever I look in the mirror I grunt, "when did you get so old?". I am extremely ambitious and I feel the need to be first in everything, but I'm also really short and sarcastic so I'm not intimidating.
I listen to what people say at night and make songs out of it. I own 7 instruments. I love Coldplay, Keane, Alice in Wonderland, Tuck Everlasting and actively working on things. You can find me at department stores, investigating fridges and ovens and funny toasters.
It’s twice as scary because Im losing twice as much.
Not only the boy I thought I loved but my best friend along with him.
I hate to break it to you girls, but when you say “all guys are assholes” because they can’t put up with everything, you’re not right. In fact, you’re not right when you make “lists of things every guy should do for his girl” either. Because most of you are asking for all of those things and when they ask you what you’ll give them in return, you say “just myself, but I’ll love him with all my heart” - well, that’s alright. But before you ask for a guy who does 12000 things, think about what YOU can do for them. This goes both ways.
It’s really difficult to explain the distance that grows when you’re with someone you used to love- at least, out loud. It’s hard, because it’s different. Because you know what their skin feels like, and they way they breathe. You know the way through their bones over their shirt and how softly to touch their neck so that the hairs on the back of their head stand up. It’s difficult because the feelings have suddenly created a sort of stick keeping you two at a distance, where you can’t move closer or further, where you can’t know whether it’s you or them holding it up against each other. It’s difficult because if they’re the ones holding it up and you break it, you’ll break your own heart- and if it’s you, you’ll confuse yourself again. It’s terribly difficult because once you’ve had someone close enough to feel their breath on your mouth, you really lose practice on how to handle any other distance.
